Safety Management for Members
The practice of agriculture is not free from risks to the health and safety of workers, indeed, the agricultural sector is one of the work sectors in which the probability of accidents and even the onset of occupational diseases is highest. The reason is twofold: first of all, it is a work sector in which the health risks are numerous, due to the working conditions, the tools and equipment used, and the plant protection products that must be handled. Secondly, family management, without employees, exempts more easily from adopting those precautions and measures implemented, compared to larger companies.
Given the obligations imposed by the new legislation on health and safety in the workplace, which came into force with Legislative Decree 81/2008; the supervisory activity carried out by the bodies responsible following the National Plan of Controls on agricultural companies, as well as the verification of the parameters on Conditionality for obtaining contributions linked to the CAP application; the need arose to create a consultancy and management service within the company, which gives the possibility of fulfilling all the required regulatory requirements, available to all members of the Cooperatives (FAT and PRO-AGRI). The service is responsible for providing technical assistance and informing the employer in order to comply with the obligations relating to the management of corporate risk, especially with the preparation of all the related documentation:
- Risk Assessment Document,
- Chemical Risk Assessment Document,
- Noise Risk Assessment Document,
- Vibration risk assessment document,
and everything that falls within risk management practices.
During the inspection, the safety devices of the vehicles are checked and the phonometric tests on the agricultural vehicles are carried out, necessary for the preparation of the Noise Risk Assessment document.
In addition to filling out documents, the service takes care of training the employer and employees, organizing specific training courses for safety in the workplace, such as:
- Course for Corporate Prevention and Protection Service Manager
- Fire Prevention CourseFirst Aid Course
- Forklift Safety Driving Course
- Course for driving agricultural and forestry tractors
- Course for the purchase and use of plant protection products
The service also includes the management of health surveillance of workers through a competent doctor.
The service also deals with the drafting of the H.A.C.C.P. Plan, necessary for companies that also operate in the livestock sector and the food supply chain.
